LAKE TAMBLINGAN AND LAKE BUYAN

Lake Tamblingan and Lake Buyan is one of the most famous Bali Places of Interest located in a very strategic area, which is between Lovina Beach, Ulun Danu Beratan Temple and also Gitgit Waterfall. With mount Lesong as it's background this lake offer a very nice experience if you wish to visit. Now this area has been developed, that seen from a lot of tourist come to this place everyday, from domestic tourist until the tourists from foreign country.

We able to see the panorama directly from Asah Gobleg area. In the street side there are a lot of place to sit and relaxing while we watch the Lake. because this area located between of this two lake. For the people who liked camping, in this area also have a location that support for camping. We can reach this Lake about 2-3 hrs from Denpasar to the north. Around the lake, there are also a lot of monkeys that randomly appear in the street near the Lake. There are some facility in this lake, like Parking area, traditional boot to rent for recreation even for fishing in this Lake.

How to Get to Lake Tamblingan and Lake Buyan

Lake Tamblingan and Lake Buyan are located around Bedugul, Sukasada Village, Buleleng Regency in the rich submontane rainforest area. From Denpasar to the north we can reach this lake for about 2 – 3 hours. There are also many monkeys around the lake that appear randomly on the street near the lake. There are some facilities in this lake, such as a parking area, traditional boat rentals in this lake for recreation and even fishing.

What to Expect at Lake Tamblingan and Lake Buyan

It looks like a twin lake from the sky, you can see this lake is surrounded by coffee and clove plantation. From Bedugul with its Bratan lake, it will take only around 15 minutes toward the north before we can see in the left Lake Buyan with its glass like still waters. Following the road winding up the hill, through groups of monkeys on the road sides, we will arrive at the junction on the top of the hill, in this junction take the left turn (the straight direction go toward Singaraja city of north Bali).

Starting here to the west, we will see one of the most beautiful nature and vegetation scenery on the island. On this quiet scenic asphalt road, we will find green grass on the road sides, trees, plantations and farms on the right side of the road, sporadic mists and yes, the Lake, seen and disappear at below left of the road while we are driving beside lush vegetation and big trees. We can pull over at the roadside in some points along the road to admire the tranquility of the lake and surroundings, to feel coolness of the air or even to have some picnic.

We can continue driving toward the west to the western tip of the lake and beyond. On the western end of Lake Buyan, we will start to see the sister lake of Buyan, Lake Tamblingan. If we follow the road it will bring us closer and closer to Lake Tamblingan, or if we take direction to the right at the following junction at the end of the road, we will arrive in Munduk village, a village rich with coffee plantations that own a quite well known gamelan gong kebyar music group.

Lake Tamblingan and Lake Buyan History

Lake Tamblingan
Lake Tamblingan is a lake located in the plateau area with a green hill surrounded. It is situated adjacent to Buyan Lake with cool weather. It has the fascination where the nature authenticity can be felt and the inexistence of motorized boats here. These beautiful lakes can be seen from the top hill right from Asah Gobleg Countryside, Sukasada District and Singaraja regency, north part of Bali.

This lake is ideal for Jungle Trekking Adventure because it is very amazing with the rain forest including flora and fauna observation. Beside that, many local visitors are doing camping programs or outdoor team building while enjoying the beautiful nature. Here we can also see the local residents use the small traditional boat which is called Perahu to cross the lake or do fishing.

The existence of monkeys, which is not far from these two lakes, are precisely located beside the main road from Denpasar to Singaraja. In progressively, the amounts are increasing and it was one of fascination for tourists who visit it. It is located in Sukasada sub district, 21 km south of Singaraja. It is situated in the high land about 1000 meters above sea level so that the atmosphere is rather cold and chilled at night.

Lake Buyan
Lake Buyan is the smallest lake in Bali located just next to Tamblingan Lake. It is located in the plateau area and covered by cool weather. It is situated in the high land with hills and rain forest surrounding it. Since the location is in the plateau area, the fog is usually blanketing the area. This lake can be seen from the top of a hill which is called Asah Gobleg. Asah Gobleg itself is the name of the countryside located on the top of a hill where the villagers live with agricultural life.

Buyan Lake has a broadness of about 3,9 km, with the maximum depth of depth is 87 meters and the water volume is 0,116 km3. As a tourist destination, Buyan Lake has a stop point with traditional chairs along the road. The temperature in this place is relatively cool in particular at night and it is visited by tourists in particular from locals.
